Palin Emails Call for Wooten’s Firing
The Washington Post today released portions of emails written by Sarah Palin to Walter Monegan pretty directly calling for his dismissal.
Here is an excerpt:
“It was a joke, the whole year long ‘investigation’ of him. This is the same trooper who’s out there today telling people the new administration is going to destroy the trooper organization, and that he’d ‘never work for that b****’, Palin’.)
MSN recounts the entire timeline, the initial denial, and later caught on tape confession here.
The whole Troopergate thing begs the question of Palin’s judgment. If she did fire her Department of Public Safety Commissioner because he wouldn’t fire her ex-brother-in-law, that’s criminal. If her staff put pressure on Monegan, that shows an inability to control the staff of the 3rd least populus state in America and therefore an inability to control the staff of the largest, most powerful office in the world. Even if neither of these are what’s revealed (though these emails are quite damning), she showed poor judgment in even getting involved with a high ranking public official in such a personal matter.
Also on the question of judgment, let’s not forget, Monegan’s replacement, appointed by Palin, quickly resigned within three weeks amid a sexual harassment scandal.
