Barack Obama Acceptance Speech
Thursday, August 28th, 2008Barack Obama’s Acceptance Speech. I can’t do it justice with a description. He hit EVERY point.
Just watch.
It started with an intro video voiced over by David Straithairn (8 Men Out; Good Night,Good Luck) that gave an overview of his upbringing and why he’s running for president. (Hint: It’s us.)
His speech. Again… just watch.
Barney Smith, not Smith Barney
Thursday, August 28th, 2008Barney Smith, a lifelong Republican from Indiana, was the highlight of the show. After the stories of Republicans who switched over because of Barack Obama’s message of Change and Hope for middle class Americans, Barney came out.
Barney also had the line of the night.
“”We need a President who will put Barney Smith ahead of Smith [...]
Gore: I believe in recycling, but that’s ridiculous
Thursday, August 28th, 2008Al Gore gave one of his most fiery speeches. Like Kerry, I have to ask… where was this Al Gore 8 years ago?
Gore slammed Bush and McCain immediately:
“Eight years ago, some said there was not much difference between the nominees of the two major parties and it didn’t really matter who became president. Our nation [...]
Biden: Bloody their nose
Thursday, August 28th, 2008I’ve respected Joe Biden since the first time I saw him on Meet the Press in my teen years, but I’ve never known a lot about him other than I agree with most of his policies and he’s just a likable guy even if I didn’t.
As veep chatter about him started, I wanted to do [...]
John Kerry: Candidate McCain vs Senator McCain
Thursday, August 28th, 2008John Kerry was the second key speaker last night. I have to say, Kerry has been a much better spokesman for Obama than he ever was for himself. He killed Lieberman a few weeks ago on Meet the Press. Where was this guy four years ago?
Kerry wasted no time going on the attack. His Candidate [...]
Bill Clinton: Barack Obama is ready to lead
Thursday, August 28th, 2008Bill Clinton was the first of the major speakers last night. After an almost endless amount of applause, he quickly got down to business.
“Hillary told us in no uncertain terms that she’ll do everything she can to elect Barack Obama. That makes two of us. Actually that makes 18 million of us.”
Clinton hearkened back to [...]
Hillary Clinton: ‘No way, No how, No McCain’
Wednesday, August 27th, 2008After a really well put together video montage, Hillary’s speech tonight was the most resounding endorsement of Barack Obama to date. I mean… it was stunning. Like my reaction to Ted Kennedy’s speech, I don’t have the words.
Hillary came out swinging. She hit every point and, my god, did she slam McCain and Bush.
Highlights:
“I [...]
Mark Warner: ‘The Race for the Future is on’
Wednesday, August 27th, 2008I have to say the buzz surrounding this speech was that it was going to be ho-hum fluff, but Mark Warner came out and delivered an amazing balance of attack and positivity. He maintained the optimism and hope that’s at the center of Obama’s message, but was able to take McCain and Bush to task [...]
Casey: ‘That’s not a maverick. That’s a sidekick.’
Wednesday, August 27th, 2008Senator Bob Casey came out and delivered a great speech. He addressed the elephant in the room, his difference in views on abortion with Obama and quickly delivered the line of the night:
“The people of Pennsylvania can’t afford four more years of Bush-Cheney economics, and with John McCain, that’s exactly what we’d get. John McCain [...]
