Letter to the Editor: On McCain’s Sex-Ed Ad

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Published in the Bucyrus Telegraph, Bucyrus, OH, September 19, 2008.
Dear Editor,
I’ve remained undecided in the current presidential election until now, but the latest moves by the John McCain campaign has pushed me directly to Barack Obama. This latest ad bashing Obama’s support of a bill designed to protect children from sexual predators is just shameful. [...]

McCain Wins Debate! (Before it happens)

Friday, September 26th, 2008

Those of you expecting a hard fought debate tonight are in for a real disappointment. No, not because McCain is bailing, he just announced he would debate tonight. Apparently, even though the debate doesn’t start for another 9 hours, McCain has gone ahead and declared himself the winner! Must have been quite a blowout, 9 [...]

Townhall Questions for Sarah Palin

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

I’ll never have the opportunity to ask a question at a McCain-Palin townhall because 1. I don’t live in a swing state (yet) and 2. I’m probably on the Republican Party townhall blacklist (wait…THAT Rodney Hopper?).
For all of you who do have the opportunity to attend one of these dog and pony shows, here’s some [...]

Change We Can Believe In: Book Released

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

“Change We Can Believe In: Barack Obama’s Plan for Renewing America’s Promise” was released this week. I began reading it last night. It’s an easy read and clearly lays out in detail his policies and plans for the future. All profits go to charity.

McCain’s Perverse Obama Education Ad

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

The McCain campaign released the following ad in response to Obama’s challenge to focus on education. The ad has your requisite out of context headlines, followed by the claim that Obama’s sole education accolade is comprehensive sex education to children in kindergarten. It ends with a picture of Obama beside the words “Learning about sex”…”before [...]

Wolves: More of the Same?

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

It appears as though the McCain campaign is not only looking to recycle Bush-Cheney policies, Bush-Cheney politics, but also Bush-Cheney advertising.
Their latest ad, ‘Fact Check’, which has been blasted by the very site they’re quoting, FactCheck.org. I find it interesting that McCain chooses to use FactCheck.org, since he earlier in the campaign questioned their credibility. [...]

Letter to the Editor: McCain’s Votes on Katrina

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

The following is a letter I wrote that was printed in The Hattiesburg American, Hattiesburg, MS.
September 2, 2008
As we pass the three year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and the threat of Gustav looms, I’m reminded of the immense horror, frustration, and powerlessness I felt as I watched my fellow Mississippians, my friends, my family, suffer [...]

Olbermann’s Special Comment on RNC’s Video

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Keith Olbermann had a special comment about the RNC’s 9/11 video.
Say what you will about Olbermann, but he’s right on the money with this commentary. The RNC’s 9/11 Video was distasteful, political fear mongering, and quite frankly, shameful (that word keeps showing up in descriptions of the McCain campaign.)

Transcript:
As promised, a Special Comment about [...]

Phony Outrage: Lipstick on a Pig

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

The McCain campaign has sparked phony sexist outrage over an otherwise innocuous remark by Barack Obama.
In Lebanon, VA, Barack Obama made the following comment:
“Let’s just list this for a second. John McCain says he’s about change, too, and so I guess his whole angle is ‘Watch out, George Bush, except for economic policy, health [...]
